Franklina Naana Stephens
Franklina Naana Stephens life has crossed countries, cultures, and countless turning points, shaping the voice she writes with today. Born in Tema, Ghana, she grew up surrounded by strong women who carried families on their shoulders. Those early experiences became the backbone of her storytelling. Her childhood unfolded across Ghana, the United Kingdom, Austria, and the United States, giving her a perspective shaped by movement and the search for a sense of belonging.
Franklina didn’t initially set out to become a writer. She began by jotting down small stories, private thoughts, and emotional pieces. Over time, those quiet pages reflected her life, leading her to memoir writing, where honesty and courage guide every chapter.
She is a devoted mother to her daughter, Linace, a role that reminds her of second chances and the healing of generational trauma. In honor of her grandmother and aunt, she founded the Aruba Foundation, Näschtenliebe, in 2023, dedicated to supporting children without family care. Her work reflects her belief that no child should feel abandoned or unseen.
When she isn’t writing, Franklina enjoys sketching, dancing, or singing during quiet moments. “Rejected at Birth” is her debut memoir and the beginning of a larger journey that will continue to explore resilience, identity, and the threads that hold families together.
Above all, Franklina writes to remind people that even stories born in pain can grow into something powerful and worth sharing.
